Are you at a healthy weight?
To determine whether or not your weight is in a healthy range doctors have been using the body mass index(BMI). Your BMI is a calculation based upon your height and weight.
To calculate yours go BMI Calculator. If your result is between 25-29.99 then you are considered overweight, if over 30- then obese.
An increased BMI is associated with an increased risk of heart disease, diabetes, gallbladder disease, certain cancers (breast, uterine, gallbladder, and colon), sleep apnea, joint disease, and infertility.
If weight loss is needed, it is recommended that 60-90 minutes of almost daily activity occur. Help can also be found at the website Choose My Plate which will assist with food group choices as well as portion control.
